Betreiben is a series of site specific, immersive experiences following the life, work and impact of NY artist Robert Mapplethorpe. Betreiben is adaptable for both gallery spaces, and other non-traditional performance spaces. The audience is taken on a journey of discovery and the exploration of one’s queer identity, touching on the power of such journey’s as well as the unspoken complexities.

Betreiben Pt. II Premiered at Carroll Hall in NYC on October 5th 2022 to a sold-out audience. Part II approaches Mapplethorpe’s work in a more tactile and experiential environment. The audience follows the performers through 3 distinct spaces for a voyueristic look into one discovering their queerness.
